Don’t watch someone use Excel. Use Excel yourself.
Most Excel education is passive. You watch someone else type a formula, nod along, and discover at work that you cannot reproduce it. The knowledge felt real while the video was playing and evaporated the moment you faced a blank cell.
This platform inverts that. You are handed a realistic dataset and a task, and you write the formula. Nothing is multiple choice. Nothing is a drag-and-drop approximation of a spreadsheet. You do the thing you are trying to learn.
What we do differently
Feedback names the mistake. Most practice tools tell you an answer is wrong and then show you the right one, which teaches almost nothing. We tell you which assumption failed — a range that is not locked and will break when filled down, a lookup pointing one column off, a single-condition function on a problem with two conditions. Then you try again.
The scenarios are real. Exercises are built from situations that occur in actual jobs: reconciling two ledgers, applying tiered commission, aging receivables, cleaning an export that arrived with names in one column and trailing spaces everywhere. You will not be asked to calculate A1 plus B1.
Roles come first. Nobody sets out to learn SUMIFS. They set out to get through a financial analyst interview, or to stop dreading the monthly report. The library is organised around those goals rather than around Excel’s own table of contents.
Where this is today
The platform is early and being built in public phases. Right now the foundation is in place: the design system, the domain model, navigation and this content. The spreadsheet engine — the grid, the formula parser and the evaluator — is next, and the exercise library follows it.
We would rather show you an honest half-built product than a convincing demo of something that does not work yet. Pages for features that have not shipped say so plainly.
